An existing underutilized lounge space was to be re-purposed as two new spaces: for visitors and employees to meet in a relaxed atmosphere and as office space for a department in the organization responsible for, among other tasks, image and corporate message delivery (Purpose and Mission).

Shire wanted a feeling of openness, air and light. The ultimate design resulted in a fresh approach to the selection of elements and finishes, with unique touches such as tensile structures and decorative screening which provide scale and color to the spaces. Day lighting and dimmable light fixtures, placement of accessories with a residential flavor and crisp detailing contribute to a casual corporate atmosphere. Even the Department leader opted to be in an open work station rather than an office to facilitate close collaboration with his group.
