MELMARK Center for Integrated Services

Berwyn, PA | 45,000 SF

Founded in 1966, Melmark provides residential care and day program services for children and adults with a variety of disabilities. The Center for Integrated Services, originally a residential 35 room
mansion, is now used for Melmark's administrative office space.

HSA's design modernizes the existing space while providing a substantial addition to meet Melmark's existing and future needs. The new ground floor design provides expanded therapeutic
and educational space, offsetting the floor structure to avoid costly structural underpinning while providing high ceilinged space with access to natural light. The first, second and third floors provide critically needed office, training and event space.

The existing mansion, designed in the 1920’s, was modeled after Malmaison outside Paris, and the design of the addition and renovation respects the existing architecture. Refurbishment of
window hardware, respect for exterior materials and architectural forms, and restoration of interior details are incorporated into the design seeking LEED certification.
