Philadelphia, PA | 31,000 SF

The Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation’s mission is to impact the lives of underserved youth in the Greater Philadelphia region through ice hockey. The Foundation provides programs that incorporate on-ice and off-ice activities. The philosophy is to give children of varying ethnic and economic backgrounds opportunities to develop life-enhancing values such as teamwork, positive self-esteem, and the importance of hard work and respect to achieve individual goals and success.

HSA’s design objectives for the renovation and expansion at Laura Sims were to enclose the rink for year-round hockey, increase the streetscape presence of the main entry, add classroom space, and modernize restrooms and dressing rooms.  At the western terminus of Walnut Street, the rink now provides a highly visible symbol of the Foundation’s dedication to the community.
