Project HOME Knotted Grotto

Meg Saligman | permanent art installation

After collaborating with Meg Saligman, a Philadelphia based world-renowned public artist on the “Knotted Grotto”, HSA was thrilled to be apart of the project’s evolution into a permanent feature at Project HOME 2415 North Broad, a non-profit organization providing housing, healthcare, education and job training for adults and children.

The Knotted Grotto was an immersive installation art that engaged the public to write a personal struggle on cloth and tie it into the grotto. The collection of struggles were blessed by Pope Francis during the 2015 Papal visit to Philadelphia. After helping Saligman with the original development of the structure, HSA assisted in the design and documentation of weaving the 150,000 struggles into an feature wall/art component in the lobby of Project HOME 2415 North Broad. The design features a free flowing form with integrated lighting for a dramatic effect.
