Heckendorn Shiles Architects completed multiple feasibility studies aimed at providing a new practice facility for the Philadelphia 76ers professional basketball team.
Studies included additions to the Wells Fargo Center basketball arena, an adaptive reuse of an existing South Philadelphia warehouse, and an addition/renovation to an existing community recreation center. The studies focused on improving upon the 76ers’ current facilities.
These improvement goals included better accessibility to courts from coaching staff offices, a better integrated relationship between the administration and the team, provision of modernized training facilities and creation an architectural landmark. Incorporating green design strategies was also a key element of these studies.
